Postville, IA
Dana has a quick hit on the NYTimes piece from this weekend on the immigration raid in northeastern Iowa earlier this month. I won't delve into all of it, since I have a forthcoming piece on exactly this in In These Times, but the stepped up immigration raids are an issue that's starting to get a lot of attention. Since 2001, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been massively stepping up what is widely referred to as an "enforcement-only" approach. Unfortunately, I think we'll be seeing more raids like the one on Agriprocessors Inc. that could fracture families and homes until we see some kind of changes to U.S. immigration policy.
